What is a lead-acid battery?

The lead-acid battery is a battery that uses lead for its electrodes as the main material and sulfuric acid as the electrolyte.
Because of their reliability, affordability and ability to provide a constant power supply over a long period, these batteries are commonly used in a variety of fields.

There are 3 types of lead-acid batteries:

  1. Starting battery, used to power engine starting: cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, etc.
  2. Traction battery, designed to provide constant power over an extended period, used for electric material handling equipment, golf vehicles, emergency power systems, some boats, etc.
  3. Stationary battery, intended for fixed installation, the stationary battery is designed to store energy. It is used as a solar and wind energy storage system, for emergency power, telecommunications, etc.

How do I know if my lead-acid battery needs regenerating?

Batteries lose their nominal capacity due to various degradation phenomena :
